A course with the final outcome of an exciting and enthralling production, pupils, school and teachers will all feel the benefit, as they celebrate the skills and achievements of the cast and crew. Our main instructor has experience of developing and directing over 100 student productions in the UK, and over 35 in the last five years in Singapore. These include Official Openings, Speech Days and full-length plays in theatres.
Tailoring the performance to your requirements and the strengths of your pupils, we can either use an existing script, commission a purpose written script from one of our skilled scriptwriters, or even develop the ideas of the pupils into a coherent presentation through group work and improvisation.
Our productions with a lot of colour, movement and with a minimum of spoken dialogue have been very popular with schools, although we are also able and keen to tackle more serious or language-based work.
Use of music, masks, banners, colourful costumes, puppetry, and an upbeat, energetic style have all contributed to memorable and enjoyable performances for both pupils and audience alike.
A full package is available for most performance types including major musicals, which will include choreographers and music coaches, set and costume, lighting, sound, music, special effects.
For existing published plays, the school is responsible for payment of copyright fees.
Objectives of proposed programme:
- To develop positive group work skills, which will be introduced and developed throughout the programme.
- To develop self-confidence, a strong creative verbal and physical vocabulary, imaginative thinking.
- To develop stagecraft skills, including acting. Depending on the length of the course, and specific modules chosen by the school, students will have opportunities to study mime, physical theatre, voice (projection and expression), scripted and improvised drama, current and historical literature and storytelling, puppetry and backstage arts.
- To develop and enhance an understanding of the creative art form of theatre, and the process of drama.
